When Charles Stratton was born his parents considered him an embarassment.He was discovered by PT Barnum in 1842, and became an overnight sensation. Lavinia Warren was a school teacher before she was exhibited. Once married, the pair often hobnobbed with high society (the Astors, the Vanderbilts) They received gifts from various royalty (Prince Albert, Queen Victoria) After Stratton's death, Warren re-married Count Primo Magri.
