Millie-Christine McKoy (1851-1912)
The Two-Headed Nightingale Millie-Christine were born into slavery In North Carolina in 1851. They were sold to a few different showman who exhibited them around the US, until they were kidnapped and brought to Europe. They were eventually recovered, and released into the custody of their mother. They were often thought of as one person, and would even refer to themselves in the singular tense. After the emancipation proclamation they were finally freed. It's said that they earned over $250,000 through exhibiting themselves, and eventually retired to North Carolina.
